Enhancement projects handled by working groups
The implementation of improvements requires a planned and well-organised approach. In the Schüchtermann-Klinik we form so-called project groups when enhancement and reorganisation projects are to be implemented. A project group is an entity that temporarily works on a certain pre-specified task and for this purpose involves employees from various hospital divisions, occupational groups and hierarchical levels the selection of whom is determined by the subject to be handled.
Working in different project groups helps to focus even more than before on the interests of the individual patient. The questions discussed by the members of the project groups were:
- What does the stay in our hospital look/feel like from the patients' perspective?
- How does the individual patient experience his/her treatment?
- How can we improve our processes to better suit the patient's needs?
When implemented the measures for process improvement are being supervised. The project success is measured, for instance by questioning the patients or by taking waiting times and other process parameters.
Examples for project groups of the Schüchtermann-Klinik
- admission of the patient
- surgery scheduling
- scheduling of cardiac catheterisations
- physical therapy
- health training
- EDP-aided diagnostic and therapy planning
- neurological consultation
- acute pain therapy
