Laboratory

In terms of organisation the laboratory of the Schüchtermann-Klinik is incorporated in the Department of Anaesthesiology. Here, using the most sophisticated analysis equipment and processes, the medical laboratory technicians perform all the common laboratory tests for the entire hospital.

The laboratory is divided into several sections; the scope of activities includes:

• clinicochemical laboratory analytics
• rheumatism serology
• blood group serology
• management of the transfusion-related depot
• central quality assurance of the entire analysis equipment, incl. all point-of-care devices
• patient training courses for INR determination

Regarding its transfusion management the laboratory of the Schüchtermann-Klinik closely cooperates with the blood donation centre of the DRK institute in Springe. Any specific laboratory analytics or microbiological testing are entrusted to a major specialist laboratory in Osnabrück.
