Time for myself

As a rehab patient, you will be kept busy for most of the day. But not only do the different treatments contribute towards your recovery: in your free time you also have a wide range of things to do at the Schüchtermann-Klinik and the beautiful spa town of Bad Rothenfelde.

Leisure activities at the Schüchtermann-Klinik

Take the time, for example, to read a good book from our library or try out one of our board games. When the weather is good, maybe you would prefer to play on our outdoor chessboard or have a game of bocce (similar to boules). You will find both in the clinic's own grounds which, with their own pond and manicured green areas, are always worth walking around.

If you have a creative streak, you will certainly feel at home in our creative studio. Here you can make works of art also for your home as you wish with various materials and techniques, e.g. water-colour and acrylic paints or silk painting.

At regular intervals we also offer in-house music evenings, concerts by choirs and music groups from the region, as well as readings, or organise the transport to external cultural events in the local area. The range of offerings is rounded off by trips to several places of interest and various activities in the surroundings. Depending on the weather and time of year, the programme may also include a visit to Osnabrück Zoo, Iburg Castle or a guided tour of the location of the German television programme "Tatort" in Münster.

In addition, there is a central TV lounge with Sky TV available next to the cafeteria. Here you can follow the Bundesliga and other major sporting events. Anyone who wishes to take part in sports in addition to the therapeutic scheme can use the clinic's own swimming pool on Saturday and Sunday morning with members of the German Lifeguard Association keeping watch. Please obtain the consent of your ward doctor beforehand.

All wards have common areas where you can make yourself comfortable to talk with your visitors outside your room. During summer our large shaded terrace offers you a place for a relaxing rest. In the cold season our cafeteria is a popular meeting place. The comfortable upholstered furniture and modern design invite you to relax over a coffee and cake or small meals. Here you can also buy hygiene articles, magazines and small presents.

The spa town of Bad Rothenfelde

The Schüchtermann-Klinik is only a few minutes' walk away from the centre of Bad Rothenfelde. With its small shops, cosy cafes and restaurants, this attractive spa town invites visitors to stroll around.

Around the two historic graduation houses, with 10,000 m² the largest in Western Europe, you can take a deep breath during your walk or relax in the rose garden. Here, the scent of roses from countless calyxes mixes with the sparkling brine.

The Local History Museum offers regular guided tours of the New Graduation House and salt boiling demonstrations. It is also possible to visit the historic windmill on the graduation house. The spa's park also includes a water-treading basin and a crazy golf course. Or let yourself be transported away to the world of salt by visiting the salt grotto in the spa treatment centre and the inhalation walkway inside the New Graduation House.

One particular highlight in Bad Rothenfelde is certainly also the Carpesol, which is one of the most modern and attractive thermal baths in Germany. Over an area of 8,000 m², the visitor is offered the opportunity to relax in a natural brine pool, wellness in the spa area and pure unadulterated saunas. If you would like more information, please ask at our reception or take a look at the website www.bad-rothenfelde.de. You can find information about current events in Bad Rothenfelde on the information boards in the entrance area.

As the owner of a spa ticket you can travel free on bus route 466 in the spa triangle of Bad Iburg, Bad Laer and Bad Rothenfelde, as well as within these towns. You can also commute free of charge on bus routes 467 and 475 in the centre and to the edge of the town, as well as to the Dissen-Bad Rothenfelde railway station.
