Arrival
When arriving at our premises you may drive up to the space directly in front of the hospital building to unload your suitcase from the car. Please check in at our reception desk and you will be accompanied along with your luggage to the admitting ward. There is a short-term parking zone directly in front of the hospital. If you or the person accompanying you wishes to park the car for a longer period of time, this can be done on the nearby central car park of Bad Rothenfelde. The main entrance hall of our hospital disposes of a lift and is easily accessible for wheelchair users.
Invitation letter for admission
Several days before your scheduled admission you will receive a letter from the admitting department. This letter will advise you of the date of your admission and the point in our house which you can contact for admission. Depending on the admitting department the letter may contain various information brochures and/or questionnaires. Please complete any enclosed questionnaires and either return them to us or bring them along when you come for admission.
Chip card of your health insurance company and medical documents
If you are to be admitted to our rehabilitation division, we will need the chip card of your health insurance. If an admission to the Cardiology division is intended, additionally please bring your referral for clinical treatment and, if available, your latest cardiological findings. For the Cardiac Surgery division we politely but urgently ask you to bring in addition to the above-mentioned documents the following medical documentation, if available, in order to avoid any double examination:
- chest X-ray in two planes (not older than 4 weeks)
- ECG (not older than 1 week)
- pulmonary function (not older than 6 weeks)
Clothing and shoes
For hospital admission please bring your bathrobe, underwear, pyjamas and suitable casual clothing. For rehab purposes you will also need indoor and outdoor sportswear as well as swimwear for therapeutic bathes and for using the swimming pool. Sturdy shoes and assistive devices (e.g. walking frame, crutches) should also be brought along to the hospital.
Medication
Please bring your standard medication for the day of admission. We will order any rare, unavailable medicaments immediately after your admission so that they will be available the next day.
Admission by the team of nurses and physicians
After the administrative admission is completed you will be admitted by our nursing staff and medical service. Depending on the admitting division the following measures will be taken by our team of nurses and physicians:
- briefings, consultation and pre-surgical interviews
- documentation of the history of your present illness and physical examination
- blood withdrawal
- premedication
- possibly additional examinations such as e.g. ECG, X-ray, etc.

Administrative admission
The administrative admission for the rehabilitation division takes place in the admissions office (German: "Aufnahme") on the ground floor. For the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery the administrative admission is effected on the corresponding wards. You will be asked to give your personal particulars and to sign some important documents such as, for example, the contract governing your medical treatment.
Valuables
Apart from the safes in the patients' cabinets you may use the safe at our reception desk for depositing any valuable articles. Nevertheless, we would like to ask you not to bring larger sums of money to our hospital. Your own contribution to the hospital costs and other costs incurring here can be settled at the end of your stay by means of your ec card. And please leave any expensive valuables such as watches, jewellery, etc. at home.
