Common areas

All wards have common areas, where you can make yourself comfortable to talk with your visitors outside the sickroom. During summer our large shaded terrace offers you a place for a relaxing rest

Visiting hours

In principle, the Schüchtermann-Klinik does not restrict the visiting hours. We would like to ask your visitors, however, - also in consideration of other patients - not to disturb the siesta time and night-time peace. Furthermore, we ask for your understanding that sometimes your visitors may have to wait because of medical care or nursing activities.

Cafeteria

On the ground floor you will find a cafeteria. Our cafeteria offers you a variety of hot and cold drinks, snacks and cakes. Here you may also buy some toilet articles, journals and small presents.

Food

In our spacious restaurant breakfast and supper are served in the form of a buffet. At lunchtime you can freely choose what you like for your meal by selecting the individual components via an electronic system. If you are to take your meal in your sickroom, our service staff will gladly take down what you wish to eat, always one day in advance. Our kitchen staff will serve you a selection of delicious standard, light and dietary meals, vegetarian and special diabetic meals. The quality of our food supply is subject to an external certification by the Gütegemeinschaft Diät und Vollkost e. V.

TV and radio

Every sickroom is equipped with a TV and a radio set. Moreover, you may use a central TV room in the cafeteria. Big sports events (e.g. FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European championship) can also be watched on a large-format screen.

Leisure time

Our hospital offers you a variety of leisure activities. In the creative studio, for example, you can do arts and crafts. In addition to these options, you can play different board games, a game of chess on an outdoor field or use our bocce lane. In regular intervals we offer music evenings and readings in our house. In cooperation with hospitals nearby we also arrange for transportation to external cultural events in close vicinity, if requested.

Hairdresser

In the Schüchtermann-Klinik itself there is no hairdresser's shop. But you may go to the hairdresser's shop close to the hospital premises.

Podiatry

If you wish to be given a foot care treatment while you stay in our hospital, we will help you to make an appointment with a podiatrist's practice nearby. If required, you may also make an appointment with the podiatrist to come to our hospital.

Church services

In our vestry we hold regular divine services. The Catholic church service takes place every Saturday evening (at 6:30 p.m.), and the Protestant church service is every Sunday morning (at 8:45 a.m.).

Internet

In the cafeteria area, you have free web space available. Internet access via your own laptop computer in the sickroom is possible within the rehabilitation area by means of analogue modem technology. On the surgical comfort ward W-LAN is available .

Spa card

All rehab patients and their relatives staying overnight in our apartments, rooms or suites will be given a spa card. With the spa card you can use several attractions or take part in activities of Bad Rothenfelde at a reduced price.

Smoking

The Schüchtermann-Klinik is a non-smoking house. Smoking is prohibited both inside and outside the hospital building (e.g. on the terrace, in the garden).

Counselling

If you wish to talk to a minister while staying in our hospital, a Protestant pastor and a Catholic priest will gladly be available for you. Our ministers visit the wards regularly and offer support and spiritual succour. For additional information on our counselling services please see Counselling. If you wish to talk to a representative of another religious orientation (e.g. an imam), we will gladly help you to get in contact with him.

Telephone

In all sickrooms you can have private telephone extension activated. During the admission procedure you will be asked whether you want to use that service. In the entrance hall you will find a public pay phone. For technical reasons the use of mobile phones within the hospital is not allowed.

Laundry service

We offer an internal laundry service. Please ask the ward staff for further particulars.
