Intensive care unit / monitoring ward
Our intensive care unit and monitoring ward has 25 beds. Here, we provide medical care for patients, who were transferred to us from other hospitals, have been referred to our hospital by their general practitioner or medical specialist or are brought to us by emergency medical services.
A special transmitting and receiving system allows an ECG transmission from the ambulance vehicle. Thus, our cardiologists are informed about the condition of the emergency patient before he or she reaches the hospital and can effect specifically targeted preparations.
THE FOCAL POINTS OF OUR INTENSIVE CARE TREATMENT
- shock treatment
- circulatory support method (e.g. intra-aortic balloon pump)
- acute heart attack
- acute coronary syndrome
- acute and chronic cardiac weakness (cardiac insufficiency)
- acutely life-threatening dysrhythmia
- inflammatory heart diseases (endocarditis, perimyocarditis)
The close spatial connection and personnel interaction with the diagnostics and therapy divisions (cardiac catheterisation laboratory, echocardiogram department, electro-physiological laboratory, cardio-surgical intensive care unit, operating theatre) allows for quick action so that generally our patients need to stay in hospital for a very short time only.
